Order a beautiful bathroom

Vedum Kök & Bad is a long-established company that delivers the highest-class kitchens and bathrooms. It is on a journey with digitalization to make it easier to order and experience Vedum’s products.

MittVedum – a digital business platform

MittVedum is a digital business platform built on our Azure modules, Optimizely Content Cloud, and inRiver PIM. Its goal is to be the digital hub of Vedum’s sales.

Quick facts

  • Ninetech and Vedum have conducted extensive customer needs surveys.
  • MittVedum is currently used as an e-commerce platform for selling bathrooms via Vedum’s dealer network but is built to scale up to more customer groups and business areas.
  • Vedum has a strong sustainability profile. Among other things, waste material from the factory is recycled into pellets that heat schools and retirement homes in the local area.
Both MittVedum and our digital consultation service have landed perfectly and received a fantastic response quickly. Marianne Färlin, Vedum Kök & Bad

Challenge

Vedum Kök & Bad has a broad customer base, all of whom expect effective digital tools to plan and order products, as well as receive service and support. These customers range from large construction companies and home manufacturers to consumers in need of accessories. When we began the conceptual work, our ambition was to create a business platform flexible enough to handle all customer groups instead of developing a series of separate solutions. This placed great demands on technical architecture, platform choice, and UX design.

Working meeting on the development of MittVedum

This entailed an extensive feasibility study and associated conceptualization to cover all needs and create a platform that can grow and develop over time. The result was a phased development of Vedum’s digital business platform, MittVedum. First up, Phase 1 was the e-commerce platform for Vedum’s bathroom retailers.

Solution

In step one, the aim was to create a modern and intuitive e-commerce platform for Vedum’s retailers, where they can safely and efficiently place orders with the end customer with a high degree of automation, says Mattias Berglund, strategist at Ninetech.

As always, e-commerce platforms with a B2B focus have several functions that differ from those of regular consumer-oriented e-commerce sites. MittVedum’s technical architecture is based on a scalable and flexible business layer with applications developed and hosted in Microsoft Azure, several SaaS services, including iPMC (inRiver PIM) and Optimizely content Cloud (Epi), and integrations with Vedum’s various back office systems.

A new web platform was developed on Optimizely Content Cloud, where simplicity, security, and clarity were the guiding principles when designing the web and customer experience. With functions for personalized information and a concept for marketing automation, we were able to ensure that the right information was presented to the right visitors at the right time.

Result

Several of Ninetech’s Azure modules build the flexible e-commerce platform required to meet Vedum’s and customers’ requirements. These include Azure Catalogue, Azure Identity, Azure Cart, Azure Shipment, and Azure Content.
Design based on Vedum’s strong identity.

The design starts with Vedum’s strong, established graphic identity. It has been refined to create a user-friendly, effective digital interface with web-adapted colors, icons, and typography. All in close collaboration with Vedum’s marketing communications department.

Convenient for both end customers and retailers

Decorating your bathroom is a significant investment and, for many, an essential part of the overall feel of your home. With MittVedum, the retailer gets good support to guide the customer through the decision-making and ordering. The platform minimizes the risk of errors in ordering, and the retailer can focus on meeting the customers’ vision of the perfect bathroom.

Online kitchen consultation a success

Vedum’s kitchen sales organization has also digitized parts of its sales process during the year. The kitchen range is not yet integrated into MittVedum, but Vedum also offers its kitchen consultation and expertise digitally. The ambition is to provide a personal digital meeting for customers who cannot be seen physically.

Where the customer previously had to book a physical consultation meeting with one of Vedum’s kitchen experts, you can now book a meeting online. Before the meeting, you fill in your wishes, upload idea sketches, and more. In the wake of COVID-19, this solution has become a success, and Vedum will continue to invest in it and make it a permanent feature in meetings with prospective customers.

Now, Vedum and Ninetech have set their sights on new investments and continued digitalization of the customer experience and sales process, complementing a strong physical presence.
