ServeIT Online – a leading optician system

Klarsynt i Sverige AB has, together with its industry colleague c)optikk in Norway, developed a digital platform for opticians called ServeIT Online. The platform is considered so good that Karolinska Institutet has chosen it for its optician training.

Challenge

Klarsynt i Sverige AB, together with its industry colleague c)optikk in Norway, owns a joint business system called ServeIT Online. The business system handles everything from information from completed eye examinations, data for patient and medical record information, product, stock & price information, appointment books for eye examinations, subscription services, and solutions for the store’s cash register solutions & card terminals.

The system is used daily by the approximately 270 affiliated opticians in Norway and Sweden. They aim to run the local optician’s “business” and offer the best “customer journeys” for the end customer.

The challenge we faced during 2016-2017 was that the business system lacked simplicity and user-friendliness, and the technical platform for it became more difficult and expensive to maintain and support every year. In addition, several regulations and laws came into force in 2018 that placed utterly new requirements on the platform.

 

Solution

A new modern concept was developed through extensive research, focusing on services-oriented system architecture to create a more flexible and scalable platform. The ambition is to achieve mobility, simplicity, clarity, and efficient workflows for an optimal “customer journey.”A new digital graphic profile was also developed in consultation with the customer. The technical platform is managed via a customized operating environment at our sister company, Nethouse.

For the store user (optician), the new business system should feel like a more unified and supportive visual experience, even though it is a hub for many different technical systems and platforms that interact and are integrated. Examples are integration with the selected cash register system, integrations with international frame and glass suppliers (Essilor and Rodenstock, for example), and integration with SMS services, Bisnode, etc.

With our new business system, we have further advanced our position in our quest to deliver a great customer experience. Result

The new business system launched in the fall of 2018 and immediately positively impacted the customer’s business. Proof that the system is modern and meets the demands of today’s opticians was when Karolinska Institutet chose ServeIT Online as its training platform in 2020. Their optician training has a very high international reputation.
