Challenge

Intra had a time-consuming manual process for handling drawings from customers and retailers wanting customized sinks.

The handling was done via email and fax using drawings made by hand in various template documents. The process needed to be streamlined, and Intra wanted to invite customers into the design process.

Solution

Ninetech utilized all its experience in customized web applications, and Intra contributed with deep knowledge of the entire process of producing a complete drawing.

The concept – a user-friendly and straightforward configurator – that guides the customer through the step-by-step process was tested on end customers and dealers and launched in 2011. It was a success, with several competitors quickly catching on to Intra’s way of meeting customers online.

Since the initial launch, the entire platform has been updated from scratch at one point (2016), from Adobe Flash to a responsive framework on Angular.JS and with underlying databases and business layers to handle language, price lists, and business logic. But despite major technical updates, the basic principle – and the success concept – has remained the same. A simple, straightforward, and efficient configurator that makes it easier for both the customer and the production of Intra.

Result

Intra’s Design Studio became a pioneer in the industry when it was launched and is today a central platform in the sales/ordering process for custom-made sinks.

Working with Intra and finding solutions genuinely appreciated by everyone who works with the configurator has been very enriching. I have been responsible for two generations of Intra Designstudio, from one technology platform to a completely different one.
